WHAT IS WOODPILE?
It’s a simple concept that was birthed out of our love for Appalachia and its beautiful inhabitants. Many families in rural Appalachia heat their homes with a wood stove. Some can’t afford to buy firewood and others are not physically able to collect, cut, chop and split their own firewood. That’s where WOODPILE comes in. WOODPILE is a non profit, firewood initiative that provides Southwest Virginia residents, who are in need, with free, seasoned, split, firewood. It’s that simple. WOODPILE finds the sponsors, whether it be an individual, a business, a church, an organization, etc. and connects them with a family or person in need. Each WOODPILE sponsor will be financially responsible for a $350 dump truck load (around 3 cords) of seasoned firewood that will be delivered directly to the home of the family in need. WOODPILE is a 100% non profit initiative. Each $350 donation is tax deductible and the sponsor will have full transparency on how the funds are allocated to their sponsored family.
